Koda (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates a daily affirmation text message service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Koda, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
- Account information: Your first name, phone number, timezone, and voice preference (male or female). We use your phone number to send text messages and your first name to personalize affirmations.
- Voice notes: When you reply to an affirmation with a voice recording, we transcribe the audio to check your accuracy. The audio is processed for transcription and then discarded; only the resulting text and accuracy score are stored.
- Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number or banking details — Stripe handles that securely on its own systems.
- Usage logs: We keep a record of each affirmation you complete, including the transcribed text, accuracy score, and timestamp. This helps us track your progress and improve the service.
How We Use Your Information
- Sending your daily affirmation text message at 8 AM in your timezone.
- Transcribing your voice replies and checking them against the day's affirmation.
- Generating a personalized audio response sent back to you via text message.
- Processing subscription payments and managing your billing.
- Improving our affirmation content and service reliability.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following trusted providers to operate Koda:
- Supabase — stores your account information and ritual logs in an encrypted database.
- Twilio — delivers text messages and voice notes between you and Koda.
- OpenAI — transcribes your voice notes and generates text-to-speech audio for your personalized responses.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments securely.
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We share only the minimum information needed to deliver the service.
Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel your subscription, we retain your data for 30 days in case you wish to reactivate, after which we delete your personal information. Ritual logs (transcribed text and accuracy scores) may be kept longer in an anonymized form for analytics.
Data Sharing
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the third-party providers listed above to operate the service, or when required by law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your personal information and account.
- Cancel your subscription at any time through Stripe.

Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Koda is intended for individuals 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
